Hearing aid performance has improved dramatically. My patients have told me that with digital sound processing they are now able to wear their hearing aids in all environments – where before they had to remove their (analog) hearing aids in noisy places. Digital technology does provide greater flexibility to adjust sound amplification to your comfort, while digital noise reduction can improve the clarity of speech in difficult listening situations.
Hearing aids should fit comfortably and look natural. It is possible to choose a style which you feel comfortable wearing whether it be a custom molded device or something that fits behind your ear. Hearing aids are available in colors to match your skin tone or hair color. I also am careful to select features which are easy for you to adjust (if necessary) and design the hearing aid so that it is easily inserted and removed.
