By Featured Home, Services

We want to understand as much as possible about your hearing problem so we can recommend treatment that is appropriate for you. We explore every aspect of your hearing, discuss every option, and offer the best available solutions.

At Family Hearing Center in Knoxville and Lenoir City, our board-certified doctors of audiology will work closely with you to explore every aspect of your hearing so that we can determine which type of treatment is best for you and your lifestyle.

After conducting an initial interview, we will complete a comprehensive hearing evaluation which includes:

  • An otoscopic inspection of your ears
  • Pure tone air and bone conduction audiometry
  • Word recognition testing
  • Tests of middle ear function (tympanometry)
  • Cochlear mapping
  • Pediatric testing
  • Tinnitus treatment

If we determine that hearing aids are indeed required, our doctors of audiology in Eastern Tennessee will assist you in choosing the instrument that will best suit your needs. We carry the leading brands in the hearing aid industry.

In addition to hearing aids, we also carry specialty products such as:

  • Custom plugs (for swimming and cell phone use)
  • Television listening devices
  • Hearing aid conditioning systems
  • Musicians’ ear plugs and sound monitors

Our focus on customer satisfaction combined with our advanced training in audiology provides you with a unique patient-centered approach. We also offer hearing aid service and repair. If you’re unhappy with the performance of your hearing aids, return them (within 30 days) and let us find a solution that works for you.

Choose a Hearing Aid

By Featured Home, Services

We know the search for the right hearing aids can be overwhelming. That’s why we offer a variety of products to fit your needs.

With the leading brands in the industry and doctors of audiology to handle your questions and concerns, Family Hearing Center will find the right hearing aid or other treatment option for you.

Performance

With advances in digital technology, hearing aids have become more effective than ever. The current hearing aids can operate automatically or you can easily adjust the sound amplification in different situations. This reduces background sounds in noisy situations.

Appearance

Once you and our hearing specialists have found the perfect hearing aids, we’ll make sure they fit and feel right too. We offer natural looking models in both behind-the-ear and custom molded devices. Our products also come in different colors to match your hair and skin tone to make your hearing solution virtually unnoticeable.

Cost

We strive to provide affordable hearing loss solutions with fair, everyday pricing. Also, we offer a trial adjustment period. If you aren’t satisfied with your hearing aid, return it and let us find a better solution for you.

Family Hearing Center also offers financing through Wells Fargo with 12 and 18-month no-interest plans. Please call for more information.

Brands

Family Hearing Center is an independent Audiology practice. That means that we are not owned by a manufacturer, franchise, or ear nose and throat doctor. The manufacturers we work with are Widex, Phonak, Oticon, Unitron, Lyric, Resound, Starkey, Microtech, Siemens, and Rexton.

We offer several different hearing aid styles:

  • Behind-the-ear
  • In-the-ear
  • Completely-in-the-canal
  • In-the-canal
  • Extended Wear

Because we are a multi-line practice, we can choose the hearing products which are best for your individual hearing loss. Some providers only represent one manufacturer. We believe that that narrow focus potentially limits your satisfaction with hearing aids.

We survey our patients, and all of them have rated their hearing aids as “very much improving their quality of life.” Over 90% of our patients are wearing their hearing aids more than 8 hours per day.

The manufacturers that we represent are well-known in the field of Audiology. It’s natural to think that the brands you see advertised more often are the best, but those providers spend more money on marketing. Our manufacturers invest their money in research and development to deliver the best possible hearing products available in the industry.

Treat Tinnitus

By Featured Home, Services

Tinnitus affects 20 million Americans and is a distressing and disturbing experience for 1-2% of people. Tinnitus can cause:

  • Disturbance of sleep patterns
  • Inability to relax
  • Sensitivity to loud noises
  • A negative impact on work, family, and social life

Relief from Tinnitus Is Now Available

New tinnitus therapies fight phantom noises of tinnitus. Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment stimulates the auditory pathways affected by tinnitus with individually customized sounds which interact with the tinnitus to provide relief and relaxation. The treatment stimulus is matched to your hearing and tinnitus characteristics. This treatment stimulates brain activity with a much wider frequency range than other treatments and is based on over a decade of research and clinical trials in Australia. 90% of participants reported relief, an improved ability to fall asleep, and reduced disturbance from tinnitus. Keep in mind that individual results may vary, and there is no known cure for tinnitus.

Sue Stone is an accredited Neuromonics provider and will guide you through an interactive and progressive program of care using the Neuromonics processor.

Repair Hearing Aids

By Featured Home, Services

At Family Hearing Centers in Knoxville and Eastern Tennessee, service is a major part of our commitment to you. We offer proactive follow-up care, including cleaning, maintenance and repair of your hearing aids.

Because your hearing aids are both electrical and mechanical devices, they are susceptible to malfunctions and require proper care. Here are some general tips to follow:

  • Do not wear your devices in the shower or while swimming.
  • Wear a hat or ear muffs to cover your ears if you will be outside in the rain or snow.
  • Remove your hearing aids at night and keep them open so that any moisture will dry.
  • Keep your devices away from heat and flame as well as small children and pets.
  • If your hearing aids fail, do not attempt to fix them yourself.

Should your hearing aids require repair, we can perform minor adjustments on-site. We will send your instruments to the manufacturer should more extensive repair be required.

We recommend bringing your hearing aids in for routine cleaning and maintenance every 4-6 months. Schedule your appointment today.
